Take steps to Swim Safer this Summer

As a teenager, I spent my summers lifeguarding at our community pool. It was a dream job being able to be outside, swim and hang out with friends, all while being paid.

Of course, there was a serious side too, and when it was time to climb up in the chair for my shift, I was all business — whistle ready to keep an eye on swimmers, young and old. In the five summers that I worked, there were only a few incidents, and unfortunately, one was on my watch.
