Orange County Water Safety Challenge

Every day, approximately 10 people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children age 14 or younger.

The working committee of the OC Drowning Prevention Task Force in partnership with Stop Drowning Now and Supervisor Wagner is pleased to announce that on July 20, 2019 we will be hosting a free Water Safety Challenge Day open to all Orange County residents at three Orange County locations.

The Water Safety Challenge was developed by Stop Drowning Now and is an fun, interactive and comprehensive water safety day designed to teach children important water safety lessons such as how to do a safe water rescue, how to properly use life vests, how to swim to the side and importantly helps parents identify their child’s particular strengths and weaknesses in the pool.

A suggested donation of $10 per family is encouraged.

With your gift to Stop Drowning Now, you have the opportunity prevent drowning through SDN’S water safety outreach programs.

  • We educate children in schools through the Stop Drowning Now Water Safety Curriculum
    .
  • We educate parents and caregivers with information to prevent drowning incidents in their families.

  • We educate communities by providing educational materials for their residents so that their neighborhoods are safer.
